New Zealand City/Resort Stopover

Location Map
Auckland
(4 days/3 nights or optional 5 days/4 nights)

Auckland is New Zealand's largest city as well as the largest Polynesian city in the world, with some 20% of the 1 million population being Maori and Polynesian. The city sits astride the sparkling Waitemata Harbour, famous for the 1030 metre long Auckland Harbour Bridge and home to Westhaven Marina where locals and visitors alike moor their sail and power boats. The Hauraki Gulf is a mass of islands, including Rangitoto, Waiheke, Pakatoa and Little Barrier. About 90 kilometres offshore is Great Barrier Island, the largest in the gulf and noted for its craggy landscape. Most of the main islands can be accessed for easy day trips. Within an hour's drive of the city centre, there are 102 beaches!

Queen Street is the lifeblood of the central business district while nearby Ponsonby, Newmarket, Parnell and Tamaki Drive are most well known for their fun, fashion and cuisine.
